Dealing with car insurance company claims?
Okay, quick backdrop!
I was sitting at a red light in my car when a guy who was obviously not paying attention rear ended me going about 40km/hr my guess would be.
ANYWAY!
I have damage done to my car, obviously, and I got a quote from 2 places, one saying $1500 just by looking at it, and a GM dealership who took a thorough look and said it would come up to $2400+ to do the repairs. When the guy from the insurance company comes to look at the car, what do I do to make sure I get the best possible outcome from it? I am going with them paying me directly(they said i can do this). All advice with dealings with the estimator and how to get the most out of my claim would be greatly appreciated
From the tone of your question I sense you think we are out to get you. NOT THE CASE. Of course insurance doesnt want to over pay.. but they arent going to try to “trick you” etc.
Its simple- let the estimator come to your house and do the estimate. Dont get stressed, dont worry about the amount etc.
Once they do the estimate you are going to take the vehicle to the body shop of your choice and hand them the insurance companies estimate. If they dont agree with it- THEY will call the insurance company and negiotiate what else they need.
Alot of times people make it way more complicated then it is- you dont need to get involved. Simply let them do the estimate and if the shop doesnt agree – TRUST ME they will call insurance right away b/c they want the additional money.
I sware- its not scary haha.
